Dear Parents –

I want to welcome you and your child to our classroom this year! We are going to have a BLAST!

Any changes in transportation must be sent in via a handwritten letter that is signed and dated and includes the student's first and last name and the teacher's name.

Please be sure to check the "Specials Schedule" to make sure your student is dressed appropriately. On PE days they are not allowed to wear sandals or open-toed shoes and they need to be in clothes that are easy to move in. On Art days be sure they are wearing something that is ok to possibly get messy (paint, markers, etc.) Everything should be able to be washed out but better to be safe than sorry.

Classroom Management
We use ClassDojo points. It is an online management tool that parents can access in real time (let us know if you lost your parent access code!). Students can also login and view their points and change their avatar.

Classroom Rules
  1. Be Respectful
  2. Listen & Learn
  3. Silent Halls
  4. Hands/Feet to Yourself

If we are having a field trip or a "fun day", we will look at the Class Dojo percentage for the week leading up to the event. If they are below 50% then they will not be able to participate.

You are welcome to join your child for lunch. Please wait until the third week of school. We will be teaching lunchroom rules and need the first two weeks to establish a routine. When you come for lunch, simply stop by the office, sign in, put on a name tag, and wait for us at the cafeteria entrance. There are tables for children and parents. This is a time for you to have lunch with your child. Other children will not be allowed to eat with you. After lunch, please say goodbye to your child at the cafeteria.

Each child is responsible for bringing their own snack each day. Please send a small, healthy snack in your child’s book bag. Snacks such as fruits, vegetables, crackers, and granola bars are great choices. Please do not send a drink. If you would like to send in extra snacks (pretzels or Cheerios only) for the class that would be great, there are always times when we accidentally forget snack!

I have a no food policy for birthdays. If you would like to send in a goody bag or toy for the students to share on their birthdays feel free, but please NO FOOD!

I believe the most important thing is for your child to be a kid at home. I will have weekly reading logs that they can complete and earn dojo points for doing so. Overall, there will be little to no homework in our room.

Please label all of your child’s belongings such as outer clothing, backpacks, lunch boxes, etc. before sending them to school.

Please check your child’s backpack daily. Also, please label it with your child’s name. NO ROLLING BOOK BAGS!

Friday Folders will go home on Friday with school flyers/information, etc. Folders are to be returned on Monday! If there is anything you would like to send to school (lunch money, report cards, signed papers, etc) for the next week, the folder is a great way to make sure we see it.
